Best Surf Shop in the Area – This is hands down the best location in San Clemente to rent surfboard equipment. So much so that this was our second time renting a board and wetsuit from Matt, the wonderful and friendly owner / operator. Matt delivered a new board for rent and a great wetsuit as well to our hotel in Dana Point. He even brought wax to use as well but he has much more equipment available to use. Our first experience with him several years ago we had a rental car and he even had the straps to put the board on top of the car. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Matt and San Clemente Surfboard rentals, you will not be disappointed!!
My friend and I walked in and asked for board rentals They and got us in the water in 20 minutes to get some surfing before the tide came all the way in. He made sure we could paddle out, time a green wave, and pop up. The next day he looked up the surf report for us and sent us down to Old Man’s and told us to paddle all the way out to catch the first breakers and ride the longest waves. They really helped us make the most of the situation at our beginner skill level, and we really benefitted from his long local experience. P.S. get the booties, because the stingrays are nasty without them.

We are beginners and wanted to go surfing in the afternoon. Called this place up at 4:30 pm and Matt hooked us up! We were able to return the equipment after hours at 8pm which was awesome, otherwise we wouldn’t have had much time to surf. He’s a local and told us where to go, gave us the right boards, and car rack equipment and wetsuit. He’s super knowledgeable about the area and the waters. Matt’s the guy!
Great surfboards, wetsuits and transportation equipment. Incredibly friendly and helpful owner. 40$ for a board for a day, 25$ for a wetsuit, 10$ for the equipment.
Owner is sick dude, flew into ONT radar run down to San Clamemte, homie got me set-up with a solid fun board and pointed me to the best current break. 10 min later got to rip for about an hour, dropped board off and headed into the mountains. Dude gives a shit 12/10.
